Application Status FAQ

If you need to look up a term or acronym, use our glossary.

How do I check the status of my application?

When you started the application process, we sent you an e-mail containing your Access Code. You can check the status of your application anytime using your Access Code. If you lost your Access Code, please register/login to access your application. If you have created a User ID/password already, you can also login to access your application.

Why do I only see one application when I check my status with the Access Code?

We generate a unique Access Code for each application. If you want to check the status of all your applications, please register/login.

What is an Access Code?

When you started the application process, we sent you an e-mail containing a unique 8-character Access Code. If you are a borrower, your Access Code starts with "B". If you are a cosigner, your Access Code starts with "C". If you lost your Access Code, please register/login to access your application.

What is a Cosigner Key?

When the student added you as a cosigner, we sent an e-mail containing a unique 6- character Cosigner Key to the student and you (if student provided your e-mail address). If you do not have your Cosigner Key, please call us at 1-800-STUDENT to apply.

What is the difference between an Access Code and a Cosigner Key?

Access Code allows the borrower to access the status of an existing application or complete a saved application. Cosigner Key allows us to add a cosigner to an existing student loan application.

I am getting an error saying my Access Code is invalid. How do I access my application?

An Access Code remains valid during the application process until the loan is disbursed. Once the loan has been disbursed, please register/login to access your loan information.

How do I know when to use the Access Code vs. Cosigner Key?

If you are a primary borrower who has already started your application and would like to check your application status or complete a saved application, use your Access Code.

If you want to add yourself as a cosigner to an existing student application, use your Cosigner Key.

I lost my Access Code. How do I access my application?

We sent you an e-mail with your Access Code when you started your application. If you do not have the e-mail, please register/login to access your application.
